Newer Fuel injectors

Post by adika »

Hello everyone, if I were to put injectors from a newer bmw on the E12, what would i have to do to adjust the fuel to air ratio? And would it actually work or not?

Thank you

How newer are we talking about? What are you after? Are you running a turbo?
Or are you trying to save cost by re using what you have?

I replaced mine with a reman set of bosch injectors and an OEM fuel pressure regulator. Runs way better now.

They are from a 1991 5 series. I just have them lying around and wanted to see if i can put them in. Definitely a cost saving approach lol. I also put in an adjustable fuel regulator cause my old one may not have been working properly

Adjusting the air/fuel mixture would require you to dig into the air flow meter and make adjustments. You will most definitely need a CO detector at the tailpipe to dial in proper lambda.

Here's some YouTube videos you should watch before tackling this:

Before messing around, make sure you take pictures and document in case you need to set it back to factory defaults.

Electrically e34 injectors won't work, the impedance is different between the L-Jet and Motronic ECUs and they're not interchangeable.

Physically they can be made to fit the log manifold, I've done it. You need to change the pintle cap, and also find a solution to the fuel rail connection. I used barb adapters.
