I'm having trouble removing the fan/fan clutch on my '78 530i. It has the single 13mm bolt at the front of the fan.
A couple questions:
1. Does a fan clutch removal tool (similar to those used for newer BMWs) work to hold the pulleys and water pump impeller in place?
2. Is the bolt reverse threaded?

Re: Fan Clutch Removal
It should if you can get it in there. Even on the newer style I've always just wedged a large square shank screwdriver in there.DCMotoring wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 10:07 am I'm having trouble removing the fan/fan clutch on my '78 530i. It has the single 13mm bolt at the front of the fan.

No, conventional right hand threads.2. Is the bolt reverse threaded?
