E28 Rear side panel on an E12?
Anyone know if it would fit....or almost fit a 530i?

You mean the quarter panel? If so it's an easy no.

Hi Karl
My 520 has a heavily rusted rear wheel arch, so I bought an e28 rear quarter panel for less than 100 dollars (couldn´t find one specific for e12). Placing the new one above the wheel arch, seems to be almost identical.
Will do the repair in a couple of weeks, will let you guys know.

I would be interested to see how that fits. Is there any chance of you posting some pictures of how you cut out and fitted the panel?

Hi Karl,
So, Ihad my rust repaired a few weeks ago. The workshop decided to cut and replace only the wheel arch, as it was a mess to replace the whole panel, and it wasn´t necessary either. For your information, it is almost the same part. It is only different in the chromed trim near the door.

Thanks for the picture and information. The "arch" part is basically what I am looking for as the flat panels can be fabricated from sheet metal. Good to know that the E28 piece will fit.
