Upgrading rear sway bar

Post by DMS »

I’m looking to upgrade my 16mm rear sway bar of my 525. Are there any upgrades besides the 18mm 535i ones which are a direct fit?

Suspension Techniques makes an aftermarket set... HUGE upgrade, much bigger than stock. I've got them on my 528i and enjoy the difference.

I think you'll find new sets around $300 on the internet. I bought mine used 2 years ago for $175. They do pop up from time to time.

I think the E12 Suspension Techniques bars were the same diameter as the ones for the E3 they made: 28mm front and 22mm rear. Korman sold (may still sell) these bars, and at least for the E3 he sold a reinforcement bracket that slipped between the front bar mounts and the frame rail just above it. You may want to give them a call to see if they still stock these sway bars.

You might want to try Korman Autoworks for the sway bars as I think they still carry these.

You can get them from Kmac. They'll probably ship them.

I've got a 22 mm Kmac on the 520i.

Cheers

They want 720 dollar for a set! That's way to much!

That is an awful lot! Mine were only $165 for the set, although that was in '99 and I did live locally.

Sorry

It would be an instant pursuage if that was the price.
