Hi,
I have an early 6 series euro w a sideloader lsd.
does anyone know if it can be rebuilt and improve lockup by adding extra metal &/ or friction plates?
seems like 1 or 2 extra metal plates would help, but I'd love to hear from someone who's done it before.
thanks
marc

Re: how to improve sideloader lsd lockup
If your drive flanges don't have bolts to hold them in, the LS unit is probably a variant to the type 188 like e30 and same type of rebuild or addition of clutches. Mine has been upgraded to ~ 65-70 ft lbs of breakaway tqmarc79euro645 wrote:Hi,

I can ask the guy who did it for details (or you can send him the LS unit for rebuild)

I can get either over or under depending on how much camber I run in the front (and how old the tires are)marc79euro645 wrote:thanks Peter,
did you notice additional oversteer from increasing lockup?
I've been on a porsche forum that made mention of that.

I had a lot of extra friction plates added to mine to increase the lock up (somehwere around 80-90%). Didn't create any oversteer (or do you mean power oversteer?). It did make it understeer in the rain though.
