My '80 528 has a speedometer that only goes to 80, can I replace it from an e28 or something?

Thanks!

I was going to offer the one from my parts car, but it's an 80 MPH one too... :(

79 and earlier speedos go to 140 and are plug and play. The speedos seem to hold up pretty good, but don't be surprised if you have to replace the odo drive gear on it if you get one.

E28 ones will not work at all, they're electronic and E12's are mechanical.

I have an extra 140 MPH that I fixed last year. Problem is it belongs to GregGrip. I'll ship it to you if you get him to ok it. I'm done holding on to things that don't belong to me.... If you pay for a portion of the repair I did, it's yours. Call me.

the speedo in mine is way off and the odo quit. Can you fix both issues?

I am not sure I care if it is an 140 mph speedo...

I can fix both probably. The speed calibration I can walk you through. The odo repair I can do the same but sometimes it gets tough on a 30 plus year old car. Call me and we can work it out.
