OK ... forgot to mark these clearly when I took my radiator out for replacement. ( 1980 528i / manual )
There are two threaded holes in lower radiator ... one on elbow / one on tank.
I have two threaded sensors :
One with small electrical spades. Marked : 87 / 82 A15L FAE 36050
One with large electrical spades. Marked : 87 / 82 A15L FAE 36050
Don't look like BMW part numbers. Since they are both the same ... is
placement critical ? Or better yet ... which one goes where ? Thanks ... Cheers ...
Radiator sensors / lower / difference ?

Hi Hank
Thanx for you help. Now I can pay back. I just left my mechanic at Werkstat West in Long Beach (free advertisement) who said that there's no differance in where you put the sensors; BUT, make sure where you plug in matches. As in wide to wide & narrow to narrow. I forget what you call 'em, but you know what I mean, right?
You might wanna see just how the wires are bent to put stuff like it was before? Good thing you have a choice, huh? Good Luck,,,,Greg

I also acquiered a 1980 5spd that Eric Quon use to own. It was built in April 1980. April is my birthday month! Happy birthday, huh? Mine is Polaris Silver w/ whorehouse red leather interior.
I also have '73 '02 standard waiting to be renewed. It's white (needing to be de-rusted in places) with recaros & a stock rr seat. It's lowered with Intrax springs & KYB shocks. It now rides to stiff for me. Guess I'm gettin' old. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do about that. It's stock except for the 32/36 Weber. I also need a 13" steering wheel. Do you know who might wanna get rid of one? See Ya,,,,,,Greg

If I am not mistaken, those 2 sensors are the ones that determine the speed of the AC fan, they are supose to be different (yours are the same)
one with lower temperature switch (low fan speed)and the otherone with higher temperature (faster fan speed)
It really does not matter where they are located.
Cheers

One should be a 99 and one a 91 for high and low fan speeds. IIRC the 99 is red and has the small connectors, but don't quote me on that. Correct placement would be where the wires reach best. There were other temps available, but they're very rare. I think there was a 95 and I'm not sure what else besides several double switches.
