newer 3.5 in a E12 with the old intake info on it? write ups

Post by Ray in Phoenix »

I want to put a 84 3.5 euro engine in my e12... I want the intake to look stock.... is there a way to do this?
Can I just run the old injectors and motronic ecu, or can I update the ECU and injectors using the old manifold?
Thanks,,,,

The simple answer is yes, it can be done.

The complicated answer is just how do you want to do it? Remember a motronic conversion includes the flywheel and bellhousing or transmission. But if you want to continue to use L-jet, you need the adapter nut for the nose of the cam. You can use motronic with the L-jet manifold, I think the impedance is the same between E12 and an 84 3.5 so I think you could even use E12 injectors/fuel rail/FPR and have it come out the about the same flow. Or use motronic injectors, et all, and fab a bracket to attach it to the E12 manifold. Or use motronic injection, but a conventional distributor, or drive the distributor thru the motronic. The possibilities are nearly endless... :D

BTW, I have a 83 euro 3.5 in mine with an adapter nut and running stock L-jet.
