Hi,
I have an early 6 series euro w a sideloader lsd.
does anyone know if it can be rebuilt and improve lockup by adding extra metal &/ or friction plates?
seems like 1 or 2 extra metal plates would help, but I'd love to hear from someone who's done it before.
thanks
marc

If your drive flanges don't have bolts to hold them in, the LS unit is probably a variant to the type 188 like e30 and same type of rebuild or addition of clutches. Mine has been upgraded to ~ 65-70 ft lbs of breakaway tq

I can ask the guy who did it for details (or you can send him the LS unit for rebuild)

thanks Peter,
did you notice additional oversteer from increasing lockup?
I've been on a porsche forum that made mention of that.

I can get either over or under depending on how much camber I run in the front (and how old the tires are)

I had a lot of extra friction plates added to mine to increase the lock up (somehwere around 80-90%). Didn't create any oversteer (or do you mean power oversteer?). It did make it understeer in the rain though.
