I've got a bad #3 plug that keeps fouling on my 84 m106. I think it may be the valve stem seals. Does anyone know if it's possible to move rockers and change seals with the head on in the car?

Would be pretty damn near impossible. If the rocker arm did manage to slide out of the way enough, removing the valve spring and keepers, and then replacing them would be insanely hard.

I have never heard of it being done. I hesitate to say it's impossible, but at least close to impossible. But I suspect if one is bad they all are, more or less. That one might have broken and the others are crispy, but not broken, shields but not seals. I'd do at least a compression if not a leak down test before I got too far into it.

hallelujah!
It was the coil high tension wire shorting out to the chassis. I was really getting depressed. I just don't want to have to pull the motor again. I still don't understand why #3 was the one that kept fouling, or how it ran at all as the wire was really toasted, right where I couldn't see it. She's running great now though.
thanks
