Steering column retaining bolts??

Which bolts are these? Seems to me the last time I dropped the column I undid way more bolts than necessary. I'm trying to reinstall the instrument cluster and pulling the steering wheel still cramps the movement of the cluster so I would rather drop the column enough so I can connect wire easily.

The steering wheel has one nut. Why create more work than necessary?

Because the steering column sticks up high enough to make it difficult to install the tach and speedo light connections and other gauge connections. If the column is dropped down a few inches then you have better access to the back of the cluster.Removing the steering wheel makes it easier to install the instrument cluster but not easier to hook everything up. IMHO

There are two bolts with 13mm heads on them that go straight up on either side of the column.
It could be worse. You could have an E24.

Thanks. Guess I couldn't see the forest for the trees. What do you have to do to get the cluster out of an E34?
Are there still E12's at wreckers in Arizona or have they all gone to the crusher?
