Sunroof gasket replacement

I felt it would be a good idea to change the sunroof gasket to see if
it could reduce wind noise. I got the old gasket off. I am working on putting the
new one on but am having difficulty (just squeezing it on with my fingers).

Will I need to remove the sliding panel (sun roof) to do this? Or, is there any trick, helpful tool?
I have read how to remove the sunroof..it does not seem like fun because I expect pulling the last of the roof liner clips seems impossible.

You can easily make one of these to 'lift' the gasket into place without removing the sliding roof. It's just tableware.
