Changing fluids, sensibly.

Post by T.Hanson »

My fault, I neglected to write things down. I'm guessing three years.

Low annual miles, stored winters in unheated garage. Is there sensible thinking around changing the fluids : Engine oil, transmission, differential, brake fluid,... radiator flush and fill ?

All look green, gold, clear visually. Because the fluids are relatively cheap, the draining not that difficult, is there any benefit to changing annually (?) even with low mileage ?

Not really any point for the oils, they're quite stable. Maybe if they were a decade old, but 3yrs with little miles is nothing. The brake fluid is hydroscopic so yes, I would replace it. Coolant I would replace as well.

Heat it up with the old stuff! If anything leaks at least it wont be between fluids. Its usually condensation in the engine that gets to the oil.
