This is just for future reference, but I got to looking at the head that came off the original 2.8 in my E12 and thought I'd document it thru a picture. Best I've taken so far of a crack in the head. Being an 80, it's the intermediate vintage, which is supposed to be relatively good, it's got thicker walls, but still a slot instead of just a couple of holes. Anyway, I didn't put many miles on it like this, but it ran fine and didn't even use water as far as I could tell. In time it would have though. This one is pretty small, I've seen them big enough you could almost stick your fingernail in them, and this one can't be more than a thou or two. But it's there, waiting. Cue the theme to Jaws...
