Flywheel question - auto to manual swap

Post by Lock »

Hey guys, I have a question about the bolts for the flywheel on my 260/6 project. The book says to apply threadlocker, but the OEM bolts arrived with yellow stuff which I assume is threadlocker, so can I use them as is without adding anything? Simple question I guess, but I've never done this before.
Also, I read somewhere that you need to apply gasket sealer to the head of the bolts, otherwise they can become a vacuum leak. Has anyone heard that, is that something that needs to be done? I read it in a forum somewhere, but I can't find it again.
Thanks!

You do have a potential vacuum leak path...It is cheap insurance now to seal them.

I've never used it there and I use it a lot. Yes, theoretically it is a possible vacuum leak, but the threadlocker should prevent that.

Okay thanks, I'll add just a little bit of additional threadlocker, just to be on the safe side.
