Thanks Mike. So the assembly slides out after removing the grub screw? Towards the outside of the column?

Correct. Clearance is so tight some have doubted it, but it does.

This turned out to be one of those jobs that seems pretty simple after doing it once. I got hung up on thinking I didn't need to, or want to, remove the 4 fracture bolts holding the column to the case dreading the idea of having to chisel them out. It dawned on me the reason why they're fracture bolts is to make removing the lock difficult so the column must have to be removed to slide out the lock assembly. With a small sharp chisel they came out easily and the lock assembly could now be removed. There's a small hole to depress the spring clip on the lock itself to slide that out.

I bought the euro version of the wiring harness with the metal assembly. The original harness with the plastic connecter cracked when removing. The original harness has a brown wire and a brown/blue stripe wire that the euro version doesn't have. Anyone know what those wires are for? I'm terrible at reading wiring diagrams btw, so thanks for any help.

Not sure why two wires, but it's probably for the euro and early US parking lights where you can turn the turn signal switch to the left and have the taillight and front running light on that side light up. Kind of a cool feature, but when I've had it on cars I don't think I ever used it.
