Accelerator Bowden Cable

Post by REman »

The attached photos show the end of the cable that attaches the accelerator pedal that syncs the automatic transmission shifting with the rpms, for lack of better description.

As you can see I have rigged the part that attaches to the lever with wire so it doesn't disconnect. My question is has anybody ever had this happen to them and found the end connector that has broken in half on mine? It screws on to the cable and there is no part to be found on OEM. I've search endlessly and think that maybe it comes with a new accelerator bowden cable.

Your pictures are too small to really be able to tell much from them, but going off your description I'm guessing what you mean. And I found the following. It's kind of a dead end on Realoem, but search the part number and it does come up elsewhere, just not Realoem. Currently one on ebay for $70 or so, but I just did a cursory look to see if it came up at all.

Look at the P/N for the last one in the link.

Hi Mike,

Apologies for not seeing your response sooner!
Yes, I have seen the bowden cable for sale but I was thinking there was a separate part where it hooks onto the pedal linkage at the top of the engine that I circled. It's a weird screw on eye hook that snaps over a ball fitting. Trying to avoid the installation of a whole new cable as it calls for dropping the oil pan...a real PITA that I cannot do lol.

Thanks for your help!

It might be one of those things that only comes with a new cable. But if it just screws on, why not buy a new cable and just use that part of it? That way at least you wouldn't be into the tranny.
