Hey guys, Reid here. I'm on most of the BMW boards, have 3 e28's and an e24. The 6 is the one I'm here about (it's e12 based).

So its a euro 635csi from 1980. Its the M90 block, with L-jetronic. I'm having a bad bucking feeling from it when it warms up at constant RPM. I'm guessing its ignition related, I have replaced the coil and wires, I'm going to replace the distributor too (its olllllld so even if its not bad its still peace of mind).

I'd rather not buy a new one. However, I have heard that euro mechanical distributors are different than american, and on top of that the 3.5 euro distributor is different still. So I ask you this:

If I have a euro 3.5l mechanical distributor from 1980, what else will work? Can I use a euro 2.8l distributor from a 528i? Or is that not acceptable?

I think the euro 2.8 dist is pretty close to the 3.5 AFA curve

E12 528i Limusin, Europa

E23 735i Limusin, Europa
E23 728i Limusin, Europa
E23 733i Limusin, Europa
