Installing an E28 air dam on an E12

Post by 1st 5er »

This photo came from FirstFives.org Gallery.
Isn't this an E28 air dam?
How much trouble is it to install on the E12?

It's similar to the E28 iS airdam, but it has too many holes. I am not sure what it is.

if its the car im thinking of, it should be the racing dynamics front spoiler for an e28. mounting an e28is style spoiler isnt that difficult. keep in mind the front bumpers have a slightly different shape so the spoiler will not match the bumber lines exactly........

That's an E28 535iS airdam. Grassroots Motorsports installed it when they built that car.

Jim Davis was a friend of mine and passed away mid-2008 but the car is for sale from his widow Sandy in Dallas, TX.

I thought so.
They sure did an awesome job.
Hopefully I can do as good.

I kind of did a mock up, and it didn't seem close or easy. On the other hand, I've also got an E24 euro front air dam sitting in the garage, a Zender IIRC, and it does look doable with a minimum of hassles. I wouldn't go so far as to say it couldn't be done, but not easily.

Well, supposed to be in the 60's this weekend, so it'll be a perfect time to begin the project.

I'll report back, hopefully with pics.
