Howdy,
starter symptoms:
first turn of key, starter doesn't catch.
second turn of key, starter catches and doesn't let go.
third time's the charm.
this scenerio twice now, only when cold.
Looking at Haynes, LOOKS easy, but they also describe a five-step process for overhauling the engine.
I have a starter from the donor, no idea of the condition, hasn't started anything for 2 1/2 years.
Is this a priority that must be tackled immediately? Is it easy enough that I should just carry the spare around and change it in the parking lot where it finally fails?
Are there suggestions for the UN-mechanically enclined?
any commentary always welcome,
greghill
