Ron,

I checked the accelerator cables.

Don't know why I'm bothering with this e12 as I have a perfectly good, running e9 in my garage. Was hoping to have this as a daily driver but my confidence has been shaken and I don't have the faith this is a daily driver now.

On a positive note.. the gas ...

Mine revs high with or without the tach. This seems to be a game of wack a mole and quite frankly I've grown tired of it.

All new vacuum hoses and all snug.

The tachometer doesn't move and I have a feeling it has something to do with the high rev as soon as the engine starts.

Mine is automatic too. Seems my spades going to the tach are loose too. Any explanation on why is revs so high as soon as I start the car.. this is a recent thing.

Starts when I pull the dash instrument cluster

Umm... im starting to lose my mind. The car won't start (no spark) and then I pull the dash instrument cluster out and she starts up and runs. At first it I thought it was a coincidence then put the cluster back in for it not to start again until I pulled it forward or out.

Is this a thing? Did I ...

Thanks for the input. Right now I'm ready to push the e12 off a pier. Starts up every other week. Frustrating as f*ck.

Transistor swap for conventional ignition

The transistor ignition with resistor and ignition control module is a pain in the ass and the older the car gets the more prone to failing.

Anybody bypassed that for the conventional ignition system?

I know they used oetiker clamps or 'stepless ear clamps' on some of the hoses on some of the models.

You can see the rubber boot protruding out of the bottom below the seat of the rear passenger.

Yellow/green; brown; blue thick wires in what seems to be a black factory plastic protective sheath.

If something doesn't work because of it missing then I am unaware of what it is. Fuel pump works. Gas filler door seems manual. The windows are manual.

Cut wires from passenger compartment ..no idea what is was

When I started repairing the rear brakes I noticed a rubber wiring grommet with a cut wire loom from inside of the passenger compartment going underneath the rear right passenger seat and exiting the vehicle on the rear of the car just ahead of the fuel pump... any clue as to what it was? I checked ...
