Here's what I did: Fill the whole caliper with PB blaster, spray around the face of the seal also, let sit. Or if you have a gallon bucket full of PB blaster just drop it in. Let it soak. I used a air hammer attatched to a proper size socket, to push the piston in first (now it's unsiezed) then I ju...

The water temp sensor is an inverse function. Adding resistance, decreases fuel (more lean). The sensor is less than 30$ and should just be replaced if you have any doubts about it... The air temp sensor (in the vane) however is a direct relationship. Adding resistance increases fuel mixture. Also.....

When I bought my 5 last year it came with 2 snows dot mfg date 1988 mounted on like new wheels ... they wouldn't hold air, im assuming the bead and wheel has corrosion, they weren't cracked/rotted/bubbled... I poured a bottle of green slime into both and ran them all winter maybe 10k miles. And yes ...

Re: Noisy injectors

Got the 5 back on the road finally, mostly there on the smog check, it runs a little lean, playing around with resistors on the CTS circuit. I have noticed the injectors seem to be noisier that I recall. The E12 is not exactly well insulated from engine noise. Here's my question, there seems to be ...

....stays on when tank is full. What is the most common electrical gremlin....wiring from sender or gauge itself? Best way to track it down? Does the guage itself work? On my car, The connector at the fuel tank doesn't have a "clip" to lock it on, it actually slides in and out of the conn...

My 81 has 2 sensors. One for the dash guage and one for the fuel injection. You could get the car warm, and use a dvom to meter the Jetronic one. There is a data sheet on page two of this link. http://www.bosch-motorsport.com/media/catalog_resources/Temperature_Sensor_NTC_M12_Datasheet_51_en_2782569...

Wouldn't hurt to buy a spare and keep on the shelf. Makes a great diagnostic tool, as its quick and easy to replace.

If you really want to buy one....

Thanks Mike. I went back out to the shop and realized that I couldn't see the forest from the trees. You are right that it is doable. A 17 mm angled 12 point box wrench is perfect. The problem comes when putting it back together. Its easy to R&R if one is putting back in stock sized bushings an...

195/75 is a bit tall, although I don't think it would be a problem, but why not 195/70? And if it's a weekend car, it suggests you have something else, so why subject it to salt? http://www.mye28.com/images/smilies/dunno.gif Currently I'm not employed, living on limited income.. my truck gets 10mpg...

Re: Rear seats creaking/rattling

I have an 1981 528i (beige interior). I've conquered most of the unwanted squeaks and rattles throughout the car, but there is a creaking sound coming from the back seat. I had the back seat removed (and put back in) by an upholstery shop recently, and I'm wondering if the seat back didn't get put ...

My thought on this is you could gain 20hp and some torques just by getting a well sorted stand alone engine management system, over the l-jet.. yeah it would cost a couple of dyno runs to get it all dialed in, your initial cost is probably Be double the nitrous kit, but it would be a lot safer to s...

Did you check the double relay? http://www.firstfives.org/faq/ljet/combo_fix.html Very good read, and from your other posts you have been chasing fuel, not spark. Just pull the covers off and look for broken solder joints. One thing that happened on my car, is the tachometer terminals loosened up fr...
