I know that 19mm in length behind the wheel works. Anything above that will come down to mm's on whether there will be any impact inside.
I found some bolts locally that are very long. I'll give 21-22mm a try and trim down from there and let you all know. I hope to tackle this within the next few ...

Maximum rear wheel bolt protrusion

Does anyone know the maximum length a rear wheel bolt can protrude behind a wheel to avoid touching the parking brake system?

I need to push out my rear wheels due to new wider tires therefore I'm trying to source longer bolts to accommodate the spacer. I prefer to source the right length from the ...

I understand that the hub is different in order to position the rotor slightly outboard to accommodate the vented feature. The caliper is also different but only because of the wider spacer between the outboard and inboard sections.
If you buy the vented rotors, you'll also need to break apart the ...

I believe they still may be available. I replaced all my lights with Hella Euro units last year from BMW AG. They were in the $80 range as far as I can recall. The only problem I was faced with was that I also had to order the metal caps because the US rubber dust cover wouldn't fit. I ended up ...

I haven't read anything about the voltage regulator yet. Have you replaced it? It's the part which is fastened to the alternator with 2 screws with white Bosch letters. I've come across a similar situation on an E28 and installed a new ...

I bought my Recaro’s back in ’04 and at the time, my research concluded that the only way to make them work with the factory E12 sliders was to use the BMW spacers. I realized this was correct when I performed the install in ’07. The Recaro’s are narrower at the base therefore the spacers are ...

Mine had the same symptoms a few years ago and I had the starter rebuilt. Problem fixed.
In my opinion, if it was a contact issue, it would occur more frequently.

I jacked mine up, put stands in place and used a block of wood to keep the wheel from spinning while loosening the allen bolts. You can also use the emergency brake too but I wanted to be able to rotate the wheels to gain better access to each bolt while staying underneath the car.

You may want to ...

I had the exact same problem. Filled it up once last Fall and when I arrived at home, there was a very strong fuel smell. Went around the car and voila, fuel was slowly running down the side (RH side) of the tank. I haven’t figured out where the leak is because it’s all dry from sitting during the ...

I found out he installed a Lemförder E28 version. Shorter bolts were required.
Installation took place in June 2009. The E12 went through an ADS in Aug. '09 and the S38 has been in the car since June 2011.
He did emphasize to use the Lemförder version as the Meyle version is inferior based on his ...
