A long shot, but is there an alarm system in the car? It could be self-activating and blocking the spark.

I'm not sure why mine broke. Everything was working fine but one night the wipers crashed into each other and jammed. Must have broke just before that.

My alarm was key activated too, via a lock on the front fender.

I had a mechanic disable it, so I don't know how it was done. Maybe follow the wires from the switch and see if they lead to a brain somewhere.

If it still dies after replacing the combo relay there could be an old alarm system waking up and killing the engine. It happened to me.

I think it's the noisemaker for an alarm system. My car has one too.

Before you dive into replacing stuff check to see if there's a dead alarm system in the car. I had one that randomly came back to life and cut power to the ignition circuit.

Is an alarm wired into the car? I was experiencing random episodes of my car dying. Not fun, especially on the freeway. What was happening was an old* alarm that I never used would come alive on its own and kill the engine. Perhaps that's what's happening to you. --Bill *How old? So old that it's ar...

Doors won't unlock - A solution

I had a rear doors not being able to be unlocked problem with my '81. The reason was seized lock motors. Here's how I solved the problem: I pulled up the lock knob as far as I could and held it there while I tried the door handle, luckily the door opened. Then I removed the door panel and popped the...

All the passenger doors have motors. I saw no use in removing the dead ones since my central locking system controller is busted. Another benefit of leaving them there is they won't get lost in the garage, I know exactly where they are.

About the lock problem: Does the 635 have a lock motor on the driver's door? I just fixed a stuck lock issue on my '81 e12, the culprit was a seized lock motor. My experience: First my central locking stopped working. No problem, I got used to unlocking doors manually. A few months later one my rear...
