We did some testing of the factory bushings. They are 65 Shore A in durometer, and we are currently making a set of 10 prototype sets of bushings - 5 sets in 90 Shore A, 5 in 80 Shore A.

Could be a number of things. Your best bet is to inspect. I've heard similar thuds when the front strut nut is loose, or the strut top hat bearing assembly is failing, tie rod ends going out, idler arms loose or bushings wearing.

I'd say to follow your ears and listen for where it's coming from ...

I'd be curious to see how much limitation the factory proportioning valve does. I'd be interested in grabbing one and doing some tests. Just a quick update from our blog at Nameless Performance, Inc. We got the master back to manufacture ~75 and ~85 Shore A front subframe radius arm compliance bushings for the e12 (as well as the e3, e9, e23 and e24).
