Re: Sticky front right brake
The calipers, pistons are basically very simple. Remember the Dot 4 fluid attracts water over time, to cause the sticking, light rust, aggravation. That said, rebuilding the system is not that terrible. More an exercise in patience dealing with the fluid's excellent paint removing qualities. Of cour...

Re: Sticky front right brake
A trick to get the pistons out of the calipers : Remove the calipers from their mounting brackets while still connected to the lines. Free of the rotors, pumping the pedal will allow the pistons to leave the cylinders easier than dealing with compressed air in the line connectors. Should any of the ...

Re: Looking for a single Alpina wheel rim....
No replies,... so, you must know of Ebay. Next, without a photo, guessing you mean the stock factory spoke wheel, Alpina style, not an actual Alpina which were 15". Last, unless a member enlightens me, I see the only tires available for 14" wheels these days are grocery getters. No more pe...

Re: Test '79 aux air valve
Thank you for the quick reply. Who cares, the A/C in all my cars has never worked, been charged with the old freon, whatever. The windows and sunroof have worked fine. The answer to my question seems to be,... there is no bench test. If I want to check the two extra parts units off the shelf it's go...

Re: I screwed up...forgot I had drained the coolant!
Welcome to trouble shooting. Tracing a battery drain happened to me. Turned out just to be the battery, left in the below zero limbo you know. Offering a heads up to that end, low key, no panic, and you are probably aware. Not driving the car for an extended period invites a list of potential proble...

Welcome to the club. " I shoulda," kept careful notes, on oil changes dates... how things go back together by assembling the parts... My first step would be the heat light, if it works, did it illuminate ? What's done is done, follow the FAC for draining the coolant from the system, radiat...

Such things as dreams are made of,... " Fit nicely," will be your call. If you read my recent posts on repairing supposedly simple items like the windscreen wipers, your mind set going in pretty much has to be on patience and doing whatever it takes until the job is done.

Final report from a boomer. Age adjusted definition to now mean fall down and go boom. Curious if any of the six current members posting are kids, less than 60. Time goes by. I am aware my Vintage friends belonging to Vintage Truck, Motorcycle, hot Rod clubs are in the same situations. Eventually (k...
