Re: M535i bumper on a us spec e12?
The airdam itself I bought on ebay.uk. It was in used fairly rough shape. It had thousands of little stone chips in it that took forever to sand and fill . Not much fun. As for parts list and instructions I used Adam Wilsons excellent write up here: http://www.firstfives.org/faq/M535i_airdam/M535i_a...

Re: M535i bumper on a us spec e12?
I just recently did this to my 77 530i. Install was actually quite easy. It took a long time to source all the trim and fasteners. I also made the brackets that hold the upper part of the airdam to bottom of the headlight frame. I just looked though my photos and it looks like I didn't take many. ht...

Re: HELP: Water Valve Replacement
Sorry Mike. Help me with "IIRC". And to be sure I am understanding what you mean by ratcheting wrench... is the is kind of like a box-end wrench that when turned one way it tightens, flip it over and it loosens. click, click, click? IIRC=If I recall Correctly. Yes on describing the wrench...

Re: HELP: Water Valve Replacement
Thanks a million Dave. Incidentally... the BMW shop said that the dash has to come out in order to replace the heater box. They think that you replace both the box and valve. Thoughts? also... did you remove your driver seat to make room? I'm 6-3, so I think thats a must if I'm going down, so to sp...

Re: HELP: Water Valve Replacement
I recently replaced my heater control valve and I bought 64111360820. If you go to my project posting in "gallery" you can see my old valve and it has both the part numbers you mention. http://www.firstfives.org/phpBB-3.2.1/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5482&start=45 This info is towa...

Re: Suspension Upgrade
Yes, Bilstein said the B6’s are fine with lowering springs. The early ones use a different strut according to the part numbers. I think the porpoising effect is slightly magnified by the seat construction with springs vs. foam but I’ve never driven one with a more modern seat with all foam seat cus...

Re: brushable body color paint
I recently had custom spray paint cans mixed by local auto parts place. They sell Spraymax paint. I used it to repaint the inner fender and new battery tray in the engine bay after careful masking. I have also used Small cans of Rustoleum brushable paint to mix up a color that closely matches my Cha...

Re: Malaga Red E12 for Sale on Bringatrailer......
Just for the record here, that was the same car that was advertised for $20K. The Bat seller bought the Malaga from the original CL seller for approx $10K. He then did a bunch of work to it and then sold it on BAT for $15K. Just thought I'd mention this in case anyone was interested. I followed the ...

Re: difficult or PITA bolts etc - for amusement!
Dave, it would have been harder still with the front seat still in the car. Funny , I just saw these comments. You are so right. I also don't think it would have gone nearly as well if the pedal box and steering column were in there. again not fun I think better than pulling the whole center consol...

Re: Crank position sensor
It may be a transitional car with the e12 body, frame and interior but the series 2 engine with motronic and yes two sensors on the bellhousing for speed and ref. As for the seats I would say no, probably not but anything is possible. I have both e12 and early e24 and seats are shaped quite differen...
