Valve adjusting mechanism.

Post by canada karl »

I've tracked down a loud ticking noise coming from one valve. I tried adjusting to spec but could not get the ticking to go away. Is it possible for the adjuster itself to fail somehow?

I meant the mechanism itself not the person doing the adjusting :)

Well the eccentric could wear, are you out of adjustment room? More likely is either the valve tip is cupped making measurement difficult, in which case some have done it at the cam, which is a smaller number, not the same, or the cam wasn't in the right spot when adjusting it.

I would revisit the adjusting making sure the cam lobe is pointed opposite the rocker. That ramp starts earlier than it appears. Intake or exhaust? A thou or two tight on the intake especially shouldn't cause any harm.

Thanks Mike I'll check it again making sure the cam lobe is pointed opposite the rocker.
