Shock Towers

Post by GripGreg »

Hi Guys
I know that, in some cases, the larger the number the smaller & visa versa.
In the case of the spring rates, are the springs from a '75 stiffer than on the '80 FAQ or not??
I know that Petr Frac or whatever his name is, had it in his mind to be better then the Mercedes 280.
I already found the cold air intake is better in the '75 compared to the later E12!
Also, do the springs from a '75 fit over the '80 shock towers? I'm planning to upgrade to the vented rotors of the '80.
Thanx ln advance,,,,Greg

Check this out:

It appears that the early E12's had very similar spring rates to the later E12's. It is in the middle (1977 to 1979) that they were stiffer. I have a 1977 and a 1980 and the 77 definitely is stiffer.
