Hi Mike Can I use this head on my 76 530i? Do I need that adapter nut you mention in your Faq? How easy is to obtain this nut and how difficult to install? CK

Someone call?

Yes it will work.

Yes you need the adapter nut.

Not hard to get, it can be a dealer item, see #15 here.

The hardest part of installation, off the car at least, is just removing and tightening the big nut it replaces. It's tight, but nothing like the crank nut. Either reuse the lockplate or use red locktite and get it good and tight.

I'm a little confused about the adapter nut if I need to order one from the dealer. What model is the adapter nut from ...the 80/81 528i???

I think the adapter nut is from any pre motronic M30. Seems like it's listed as a "repair nut" since the tabs on the nose of the cam are known to break off when people use them to hold it while removing the nut, but it can be used to adapt a later cam to a conventional distributor engine. Search Realoem E12s and you should see it.
