If I install a cyl head from a 1987 535i on my 76 530i which head gasket kit do I order? Bavauto has the 87 priced at $260.00 and the 76 at $115.00. Why the cost difference? Also...are you sure that the adapter nut you refer to in your Faq is still available? Thanks Karl

Use the 76 gasket set. You need it to match the pistons and bore. I have no idea why they are so expensive on the later gasket set, Autohaus AZ isn't, nor is Rockauto. You might want to get a gasket set for an 80-81 633/733 as that would have the same bore as a 530 (you do have a 3.0 still, correct) it would have same and correct manifold gaskets and the correct valve guide seals for the later head. But unless you're changing the valve guide seals it doesn't really matter. But you need to match the head gasket to the bore, not to the head.
It looks like the adapter nut is still available, but it is special order. Tischer shows it for $31.
