tips to remove tie rod ball joint

has anyone got any tips for removing a tie rod. my right one is moving about too much now.
I've bought a new ball joint tie rod seperator tool .

If your ball joint separator tool is the kind that clamps onto the ball joint, tighten it up good--then if the ball joint doesn't break loose, rap the side of the ball joint with your hammer. Don't be gentle.

thanks for that
fitted the tool tight, tapped the side of the joint, tightened the tool a bit more and pop - off it came
nothing gentle about it that's for sure
now got to find me a new one BMW want $242 ex Germany!

It's been a few years, but I think I paid about that for a pair of inner plus a pair of outer tie rod ends, that was from my local indie. Check some of the advertisers in the Roundel, like Pelican parts.
