How to get the right tension , or amount of deflection pushing down on the straight belt.

Use a pry bar, or is just pushing down smartly on the compressor, power steering pump, alternator so the belts are tight, adequate..

Tom,,peeking out again, the pry bar/lge. screwdriver is best 'cause you have more leverage, making it easier to do. I was raised in inches so, 1/2 " is what has been recommended to me for the play in all belts, but, no more. Is that about 10mm? Maybe 11mm?
Although, I think there's one part that is easier to push w/o the prybar. Forget which one, but, you'll know when you find it. As long as you can use one hand to hold the bar/part & the other to tighten the nut/bolt till you can use both wings to tighten stuff w/o things slip/slidin' away. Hey, is that a song? Wish you were here for the BBQ. Did you checkout Silver?
Where was everybody else? What's your excuse? C'mon? Hii Yeooh Silver! Greg

I used to get a straight edge and actually measure 1/2" of deflection in the belt. I just push/pull the accessories over far enough to get the desired deflection. If I were to use a prybar, I'd put something like a rag between it and the accessory.
