Combo relay differences

From parts cars, one has metal cover, short. The other is black plastic, taller, raised schematic (?) on it. Both plug in patterns match.
'79, '80, '81, are they interchangeable ?
Reading Peter's FAQ, reason for repair matches symptoms I'm chasing.

I believe all 528i's used the same one, but 530's used a different one. Check the pinout. I want to think 633/733s used the same as 528s, but 630 used the other one.

For input, I changed a black plastic version for one the same, no performance difference. Happened to be in my '81.
My '79 uses the shorter steel version, 633 ECU that runs my 635 (fine) uses black plastic but I've not looked at the male plug-ins underneath or checked part number to note any differences.
