ECU: -118 and -122 Interchangeable?

Greetings all,
Been out of touch here for a bit, and doing a search yielded few results. I just wanted to verify if anyone has used at later -122 ECU in exchange for a -188 in the 1979 cars? If so, have you had any problems?
Thanks.

You might consider a wide band o2 for diagnostic purposes. Innovate makes very affordable ones, and will be very helpful for your situation.

Yeah, that's a PITA. It sounds like a fuel supply issue. Do you notice that it occurs at full throttle at low engine speed, high speed, or both?
I'm inclined to think fuel pressure, or a clogged/malfunctioning injector(s). If it's happening when you go to full throttle even at high engine speeds, I ...

No problem.
Carbon buildup can be a funny thing, though. It can come from soaking the pistons from running too richly. Bad valve stem seals are the most common culprit, though. I had an issue a few years back with a head I had rebuilt where they shop didn't properly install a few of the valve stem ...

A good way to knock the carbon off if you find some on there:
Get a large jug of water, and a piece of vacuum hose long enough to reach inside the cab. Find a downhill long enough and steep enough that you don't have to accelerate at all. While coasting, submerge the tube into the jug so that it ...

Well the real culprit is when you have a significant amp draw. Even .5 amps will drain the battery pretty quickly. Take a look at that also.

Best thing to do is put a mulitmeter over each circuit on the fuse box. See if any of them are pulling any amps when the car is off. When you find which one it is, you should be able to narrow it down to whatever is on that circuit. The most common ones I've had are the glovebox light, trunk light ...

You can check for fuel pressure/fuel regulator issues by partially clamping the fuel return line. Do that, take it for a drive, and see if it changes anything. If it does, you probably have a bad regulator.

e30 sport seats (again)

So this is dragging up an old post from last year. I know Massive Brakes makes an adapter for the e30 sport seats to the e28. Has anyone tried this product on a >9/79 e12?

Yeah I would just stock with a new OE Bosch unit. I don't really think they have longevity/ durability issues that are any worse than anything else I've seen.

S/T sport springs

Just wondering if anyone is running S/T sport springs. I have BG springs right now, and it's lowered 1.6 inches, which is way too much given that they are a factory spring rate. S/T is supposed to be only an inch, and hopefully are a bit stiffer, but I'd like some first hand input if it's out there ...

Well 'good shape' is kind of subjective. The reality is that if one line burst, the other are probably on their way unless someone piecemeal replaced them in that past. Do yourself a favor, spend the 20 bucks for the hose and do it all before you get stranded again.

Yeah, I would just consider what you bought to be a temporary fix. It should get you home with no problem, though.
