5 speed swap, curious on clutch options

Post by EURO M3 CSL »

I have a 1979 528i 5 speed transmission. Probably will put it in once the weather gets better. curious as what clutch options i have and what you guys recommend? I have plans for FI in the near future so having something a little beefier would be better. Any thoughts?

I'd check out the FI subforum over at Mye28, some of them are dealing with crazy power numbers. E28 M5 is probably going to be the answer, but look there, don't take my guess.

I think any clutch that goes in a 260 series gearbox will fit, so there should be plenty of options there.

Can't guarantee it, but the unit in the M535i is common (for Euro models at least) with the manual 528i. It was good for well over 200 hp.

Sachs make a HD clutch good for 520Nm which is more than double a stock 528i.
