A couple days ago the turn signals quit working on the e12. Yesterday when I got home from work the emergency flashers were on, I pushed the flasher button and nothing. So I pushed harder and quickly and they went off. Later that evening someone came to the door to tell me the flashers were on again so I went back out and repeated the process and then disconnected the battery to prevent it from happening again. Am I correct in assuming the emergency flashers and turn signals are linked in some fashion explaining why my turn signals no longer work? Unfortunately I do not have nor can I find a Haynes, Chilton, or blue shop manual for the e12. I have reached out to someone on this board that had a shop manual for sale but no response so far. I’ve been on Amazon, eBay and no luck so far in finding a Bentley equivalent. Anyone here have one they are willing to part with and for the time being, any suggestions?

Yes, I have performed a search on both boards.

Good you got the Blue Factory Manual I don't think a Bentley manual was produced for our cars.

In lieu of shop manuals, trying to help:

And yes, I've been there, reading stupid stuff that didn't help. If you can manage to Google search the archives, type in the subject, question that results in finding the search words in the First Fives archives, fat city. Most all problems got listed and replied to in ten years.

There used to be a Google Search shortcut on the home page, but it disappeared, along with anyone to ask where it went.

Besides the flasher repair suggestion, don't forget the age old reminder about the big fat braided ground straps. To the negative battery post, and the rear of the engine to the firewall. All the little brown wires everywhere, clean, shiny, connected. Clean fuses in clean holders too.

Until fixed, maybe get a friend to sit in back and point out the back window.

Somehow Bizz found the most comprehensive fix for your turn signal/hazard switch issue!
JohninSimi posted this awhile ago. If you follow it to the tee, it'll be fixed.
Use the correct tools & be patient.
I have to give Don Daynes credit for teaching this to me before John posted it.

Bizz, can you find a way to upload it to the FAQ section again? Please?

Ps; In the mean time you can wedge a half tooth pick next to the button & let the button rest at the stop..Do not break anymore off.

It got in my way of shifting, so I shortened it.

Agreed, the Google search works great on the e28 forum, been using it for years. The search function here is not very helpful.

Try this:

Go to Google

Enter site:firstfives.org

Then keyword (e.g. turn signal relay)

Press enter to search.

You get any posts that contain keyword including the archives.

After fumbling around trying to search for answers to my questions, I was able to find them in less than five minutes this morning by doing this. I then bookmarked the page to my Favorits bar and BAM! it's there whenever needed.

This info was in the FAQ section till the re-vamping of the website.
I hope it can be re-installed there.
