35 year old injectors

Post by T.Hanson »

So, if the engine runs nice, is that the end of it ? As in, nothing to clean, flow, match, or test ?

They work, engine runs, or a cylinder drops and then start trouble shooting ?

I'm mostly amazed the little beggars seem to be impervious to time or wear.

I've had a bunch of them start leaking from the body. They start weeping, start looking oily and you get a gas odor. No fix, only replacement.

I've heard on E28s at least with rebuilt/cleaned injectors you get a noticeable improvement in idle smoothness. I'm assuming due to them being more evenly matched. It would probably help on smog too, but yeah, it's kind of a if it ain't broke, don't fix it type of thing.
