Power steering pressure hose source?

Post by Wyatt »

Like it says. It's a 77 530I and the pressure hose is cracked. I can't find a source for new or used. Any help? Thanks.

I haven't checked, but if it is NLA, Your only real option is to take what you have to a shop that makes A/C or hydraulic hoses and have them replace the soft parts. What I mean is they will cut the swedged hose ends off and braise threaded connectors in their place, then fabricate a replacement pressure hose. It sounds like a lot, but when I did mine about a year ago was $70. The same hose at the dealer was almost $300.
Here is mine after the retrofit.

Mesa Hose in Costa Mesa, CA did mine. I know they will also ship, so you could just send them your old hose and get back one similar to mine.

I see. That looks like the easier way to do it anyways. I really wasn't too sure if those threaded ends were removable or not. Now I just have to find a shop local that can make hoses.

Thanks.

I just bought one of those (32-41-1-117-568) for $32.06. I got
it from getbmwparts.com; it's the internet arm of Tischer BMW in Maryland.
Their prices are pretty hard to beat.

Did you receive your hose? Was it the rubber and steel pressure hose?

I bought one for the 530i, but being in Germany with the Christmas and New Years holiday, I decided to spend the $65 and have mine rebuilt so it wouldn't puke fluid for a month. I received my $32 hose and will save it for my M535i. The parts guy at the dealer was shocked. It even came with the sleeve. I had to replace one on my E34 and it was $190. I had it rebuilt instead.

Yeah, I got it and it's what was expected for the high pressure line - crimped on fittings on each end and a steel coupling in the middle.
