BMW E12 528i - Sunroof & Side Mirrors

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to the forum, I have just purchased a 1981 E12 528i Automatic in Australia and just have a couple of questions.

1: The car is a "Slick Top" with no sunroof, what options do I have to fit a sunroof?

2: Being an 81' model it has the plastic side mirrors, I would like to fit a set of the chrome backed mirrors that mount in the same location, will a set from a slightly earlier E12 or an E24/23 fit up without any modification?

First of all welcome to the club
I would not consider a sunroof even though all my bimmers have one, I sound like hypocrite I know, but all of them leak or have leaking problems.
I have a sunroof panel from 1975 530i with slides. I also, have a chrome mirror with mounts passenger side here, drivers in Australia

I on the other hand really like sunroofs, I wonder why they even make cars without them. But I wouldn't even think about trying to retrofit one, it's considered part of the roof and so the easiest way to do it would be to replace the roof. Meaning cut it at the front and rear windshields and the B pillar in the middle.

I went the other way on mirrors a long time ago, it was doable, but not a bolt up. I would guess the same would be true in reverse. However only E12 mirrors will work, E23 have a larger base that doesn't fit and E24 use a different angle between the door and the windshield.
