Replacing lower front apron

Post by Joe Boston »

I am replacing my lower front apron and does anyone know what is in between the front panel and lower apron. There is some kind of sealant or clauking?
has anyone done this is? has knowledge of body work.
perhaps could let me know what product would work ...

Remove the wheels to access the bolts holding the side rubber pieces. The bumper comes off by removing the four bolts holding it to the bumper shocks. Before that it's about laying on your back and seeing what bolts and screws are holding the parts on.
I can't say I saw an obvious factory bead of sealant in the areas circled. As my motivation for disassembly is fixing miner surface rust, in 20 years, I am not planning to squeeze sealer between any of the panels. Just kill the rust, primer and paint back to factory specs,... and drive it.
