The stock E28 Getrag 5 speed that I put in my E12......

many years ago. Would it be called a 265 or 262? and what is the E12 Getrag 4 spd numbered as? Thanks Karl

The overdrive Getrag is a 265/6, the close ratio box is a 265/5. The cases all say 262.

Thanks for the info. In that case I have the 265/6 unit. Any idea what they sell for or is there even a demand for them? I sometimes see similar Getrags go for $1400 or more on Ebay but they are usually in Lithuania or Greece.

I haven't heard anything lately, but last I knew they were in the 1,000-1,200 range. I just looked and there's a couple on ebay right now asking 1400 and 1700. Yours is probably a bit more desirable than most as I'm assuming it has the speedo drive installed in it. They're desirable both for conversions in pre electronic speedo cars like E9s and for turbo builds as they're reportedly the strongest M30 compatible transmission. Seems like I've seen them used in Volvos and Jags too.
