Considering where you live and the time of year I don't think up to 1 o'clock (assuming that is just past straight-up) with the temp needle is a concern if your electric fan/clutch is healthy.

I didn't think so either, but the cracked bottle thing doesn't sound good.

under the radar wrote:ok, so...of course, the screw broke, even after pb blaster and heat from a torch. but i was able to use a file to flatten the sides of the screw so i could get a good grip on it with some vicegrips. i got it to turn and eventually got it out. i chased the threads, cleaned every thing up and re-installed the bleeder with some anti seize. it works, until i the replacement hex style bleeder gets here. any ways, i was able to bleed the system and button evrything up and and go for a drive. temps on the gauge stayed cool while moving at highway speed but crept up to about the 1 o'clock position when idling or driving in traffic. when i got home, i was looking to see if any coolant had escaped though the cap vent hose, nope looked dry. but i could hear a slight gurgling hissing noise. there's a tiny hairline crack in my overflow bottle. D'OH! anyone wanna sell me a good bottle? or know a good source for a new one?
I just bought a new bottle from double 02 for $75. The explanation was this was "the old price" and they still had it on the shelf...so I could have it for that price. It was perfect...with a little dust.

Is your fan clutch okay?

Under the radar
Along with Chris's friend, you should check your local Pik-A-Part, or how ever they spell it. It can be a gold mine of goodies if you find the right car.
Between Ecology & Pik-A-Part I've saved hundreds if not thousands of bucks!!!Just the other day I saved hundreds with the brake booster giswichie.
Good luck,,,,Greg
