Cabin Fan Maintenance?

Hi folks,

Decided to pop this part off today and grind off the crappy old paint:

Which exposed this:

So I'm wondering if there's any regular or preventative maintenance to do on this:

And now that I have the paint stripped off, I'm almost considering polishing this!

If you are speaking of the fan motor and hamster exercise wheels, I think the concern is keeping things clean and the bearings lubed. The tip off is squeaking, noises besides the normal air vooshing.

As for painting and polishing the cover and surrounding environment, Id like that better than dirt and rust if were the hamsters.
