Where can i find a "rear-plate/bakc-plate??"

Post by 528iE12 »

First, SORRY for my bad "english":) I am restoring an E12 1975, and it has lots of rust... I need this:

Is it called backplate..? The car is from 1975 before the facelift. Does anybody know where to get this?
Thanks

If it is not available from the factory/ local parts dealer, you will be into searching junk yards or looking for a parts car.

Old subject. Rust is the killer, monster, dream wrecker for these cars. If you can see any, it's likely going to be everywhere. In corners, inside places inaccessible to fix.

Very nice rust free 528's exist for $3,000-$6,000. Takes some patience, but they show up. Nobody will ever buy a patch job car, or if you insist on building one be prepared for the equivalent of shredding thousand dollar bills.

528iE12 is not from the US and putting in a new rear section is not "patch" work. Patch work sounds like covering rust up with some sheet metal.

I stand corrected. No offense intended.
