Blower dial spray lube

Post by T.Hanson »

Is there a trick spray lube for the heater control (blower) dial ?

I've read the FAC, have a spare panel, but I'd rather try a miracle sauce before major surgery.

Last fall the dial would rotate o.k. after a little contact cleaner and WD40. But the inner grease locked piston contact dingleberries weren't impressed. I set the dial on high and forgot about it.

Today the temperature, bumps, karma combo connected something to turn on the blower. Whoopee ding ding.

As it seems to be working in all modes I'd like to squirt the dial with something nice to encourage it to continue that way.

You know taking it apart and cleaning it is the right way to do it...

Short of that I'd keep at it with WD40, it's not a very good lube, but it's not a bad cleaner and thin enough it might get in there, but not so aggressive it's going to melt the plastic.

I know. (The RIGHT way.) But it's supposed to be the rust free, salt slush free summer car to make the blower working a moot point. None of my air conditioners got charged either. 98% of the time the windows open and sunroof make the a/c charging, leaking cycle good for procrastinating.

If it hasn't become obvious to the other members, YOU are the most important part of all my sleds.

If you ever buy a Ford and switch sites, I'm doomed.

I've seen what Mike has had to say about some Ford products he's driven. I think you're safe, Tom!
