Door question

Post by Pierre »

Are early and late doors interchangeable?
I have a set of dry doors off a 1980, power widows, looks, black large mirror E28 style that I would like to install in my 76, manual windows, chrome little mirror, manual locks, and lots of rust. Real OEM claims they are all the same. How difficult will the transfer be? I don't want power windows, door locks or mirrors anyway Running power to them would not be something I would like to tackle.

The doors are different as you know in a variety of ways, but I don't think the body shell changed there, I think the hinges and latch are in the same place, so I think it should work. Granted I'm comfortable with things electric, but IMHO it would be easier to run the wiring than change the window regulator to manual. Of course there is the minor problem of the door panels if you do that, so perhaps you're best with your original plan.
