Corner Weighted my euro 528i

Post by Peter Florance »

We checked the corner weights on my euro e12 today at the local community college.
The instructor is also a racer (and former president of our autocross club)

He suggested I leave the spare in based on how heavy the front is.
10 gal of fuel, spare and me (130 lbs) yields the following:

917 FL 884 FR
749 RL 684 RR

No wonder even with LS diff, my right rear tire can spin

Moved the battery to right rear:

883 FL 870 FR
759 RL 723 RR

1753 front 54.1 %
1482 rear 45.9 %
3235 total (3105 without me)

LF + RR 1606 49.6 %
RF + LR 1629 50.3 %

Note I had set the ride height with the spring collars and then made some adjustments at a few events based on how the car was handling. Today I didn't have to change them at all to get the above cross weights. Talk about dumb luck.

I figure I can easily get 80 lbs out of the car; after that it's going to get tough.

Note I probably should have ditched the spare (brain fade made me forget that the spare is off the left) but it does tell me that with it the car not badly balanced and I'm not unhappy with the results.

cool info!

Thanks for posting that, Peter.
Out of curiosity, where in the right rear did you move the battery?
As comparted to stock spring heights, do you have a guess as to approximately how far "down" in front and in rear your car has been placed with your present settings?

It's always nice when one's suspicions are confirmed by slightly more objective data, isn't it?

Hi Brian
It's about 1.5" I think

I was in the car when David move the battery. but I understand it was full right rear corner, probably behind the well for the filler neck.

Note I'm going to have to mount a box, vent and wire it up before it is for real, but with all the Mustangs and F Body cars moving from F Stock to ESP, I'm going to have to pedal as fast as I can. :D
