1980 AND 1979 COMPATIBILITY

Post by musicradio78 »

Hi gang,

I'm doing a conversion of my '80 Five to a manual. I've managed to secure almost every single part with a few exceptions. I've found a '79 parts car, but I'm wondering if the lines, pedal box, and master and slave cylinders are compatible. I've already got the 5-speed transmission and gearbox from an '81.

Thank you!!

There are parts that are 5 speed specific, but not year specific. You didn't mention driveshaft, a 4 speed shaft won't work, but an auto one will, it's not perfect, but very close. You will probably have to make a support for the back of the shifter support to attach to the body, but again, not year specific. Pedal base, pedals, all that is the same with 4 or 5 speed, but linkage and shifter support are not.
