Python Injection replacement parts?

Post by Robert Bondi »

Anyone have any experience or authenticity comments on Python?

http://www.python-injection.com/index.php

I've never heard of them, but ran across it when just happening to try
an Amazon search on E12 parts. Amazon lists a part claimed to
be a direct fit replacement for the E12 AFM:

"Python Injection 815-648 Airflow / Mass Air Sensor Fits BMW"

Even if you try to buy OEM anything, apparently there's a risk out there
for counterfeit automotive parts as well as many other sorts of consumer
items.

I've heard of them, but nothing either good or bad. It's not counterfeit, it's rebuilt. How well it is or isn't I can't say.

You can usually rebuild them yourself you know. Either reposition the board ever so slightly or the contact points.

I wouldn't go Python or Fuel Injection Corp for AFMs. I've talked with some shop owners who have had lots of issues with those. Mostly the way they're calibrated, though there have been some failures. As Mike said, they're rebuilt Bosch units.

Hey. There you are. I didn't realize you also had an E12 - apparently the same color scheme too. Give me a shout next time you're around Albuquerque.

Yeah, no major problems with current AFM. I always wonder how long before it becomes a problem on original stuff....
